Fabrication Supervisor
Details: FUNCTION: This position is responsible for the layout and scheduling of work according to job size, job specifications and due dates to customers. Ensures high quality of work, maintains proper inventory levels for all parts that are required. Supervises departmental employees with regard to work assignments and performance. Responsibilities: Supervise the daily activities of the department by:• Assigning work, providing training and guidance, and advising staff as necessary.• Making routine employment decisions and reviewing performance.• Resolving routine personnel problems..Schedule daily/weekly workload. Adjust staff as needed depending on scheduling, vacations etc. .Lay out special jobs..Ensure departmental work meets quality control standards..Provide training to new and existing employees. Communicate expectations to all staff. Give regular feedback on performance..Be fully knowledgeable in the fabrication processes/operations and keep skills current based on goals and objectives of the company and factory operations..Communicate safety goals and initiatives to the department. Take an active role on company Safety Committee. Maintain proper reporting on any work related injury or accident. Investigate and follow up if injuries/accidents occur Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements: Prior experience as manager or supervisor in a manufacturing environment is essential. Strong communication skills and organizational skills required (must be able to layout work for both standard and specials). Knowledge and ability to operate a majority of the fabrication equipment. Must be able to deal with changes in people, materials, and schedules. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Physical Demands/Conditions Requirements: General office and factory environment. Ability to get around the facility. Good amount of time spent standing and walking around; to the extent that machine adjustments/repairs are required or employee training is needed, may need to crouch down, stoop, climb, etc. The ability to drive a forklift is required. Environment is not climate controlled in the summer with air conditioning so work conditions can be very hot. May have to work additional hours. Equipment Used: General office equipment, computer, measuring equipment for sheet metal and forklift. Exceptional working knowledge of fabrication equipment.
